Case Study: Full-Cycle SEO for a Legal-Tech Platform in the US

Client Overview

The client is a US-based legal-tech platform operating in a regulated YMYL vertical. The site had been live for some time but had virtually no organic presence — minimal indexed pages, no structured semantic core, no content production, and no consistent link acquisition strategy.

Despite having a real product and an active user base, none of that translated into search visibility. Keyword work had been done in isolation rather than mapped to any URL structure, there was no structured data, and the referring-domain profile was mostly directories with no topical relevance. The blog section existed structurally but produced no content.

The project required full-cycle SEO management across technical, content, and link tracks, run inside a single coordinated monthly roadmap. The team included an SEO lead, technical and content specialists, and an outreach team.

Primary Goals of the Client

01

Build Organic from a Standing Start

Turn organic into a stable, compounding channel by building the right foundation first and then systematically expanding query coverage, indexed surface, and authority.

02

Fix Indexation and Technical Foundation

Resolve the indexation and technical issues preventing priority pages from being crawled, rendered, and indexed properly.

03

Build a Foundation That Supports the Full Roadmap

The platform is expanding beyond its initial product into adjacent legal-document categories.

Strategy and Implementation: What was done for the client
step-by-step

01

Market and Competitor Research

We mapped the competitive set into three tiers: large-DR generalist legal platforms, niche vertical-specific providers, and state-bar and .gov informational pages that occupy a significant share of informational SERPs. For each tier we documented topical coverage depth, page templates, internal linking patterns, structured data usage, and SERP share in target states. This gap analysis became the direct input to the semantic core.

02

Semantic Research and Site Architecture

We split queries into commercial and informational intent and handled them differently. Commercial queries (pricing, transactions, state-level terms) went to landing pages focused on conversions. Informational queries (process, eligibility, timelines, jurisdiction questions) went into a blog cluster designed to support those pages via internal linking. This created a clear structure where every content piece had a defined place and set of internal links from the start.

03

Technical SEO

We implemented a structured data setup using a full JSON-LD @graph approach, with Organization and WebSite as global nodes, Service + areaServed on state pages, FAQPage on the homepage, and WebPage on every URL. AggregateRating was intentionally excluded due to lack of verifiable third-party data and the risk of manual actions from synthetic ratings. We also ran a full crawl and indexation audit covering sitemap accuracy, canonical setup, redirect chains, parameter handling, and mismatches between submitted and actually crawled URLs using server logs and GSC data. On top of that, we analysed how search engines render the JS-heavy parts of the site and measured real crawl budget distribution between rendered and non-rendered content.

04

Content Production Pipeline

Rather than commission articles individually, we built a content brief template that specifies for every piece: target query cluster, intent type, target URL, internal-linking obligations, structural requirements (heading tree, FAQ block, schema), and editorial standards specific to YMYL content. Articles are released into the blog on a scheduled cadence and progressively interlinked with commercial pages.

05

Link Acquisition

Given the YMYL nature of the niche, white-hat was a risk-management requirement. We prioritised topical relevance over raw domain rating, focusing on legal-information sites, finance and personal-life publications with editorial standards, and resource pages on adjacent .org and .edu domains. Cadence is deliberately steady rather than spiked, to keep the referring-domain growth curve natural.

Summary of Achievements

When we took on this project, the site was generating under 10 weekly clicks with almost no indexed surface to speak of. Within 3.5 months the weekly click average reached ~170 with peak weeks above 240, impressions hit ~7,000 in peak weeks, and the indexed URL surface grew roughly five-fold from ~20 to ~100 URLs.

The trajectory is still accelerating. Content production, indexation, and link acquisition are all compounding — each month's work feeds directly into the next. The technical foundation is in place to support the platform's product expansion, and the content architecture is built to scale without starting from scratch each quarter.
